  • Protecting Women & Reproductive Health

In honor of longtime League of Women Voters member and leader of this program, Mary Headrick. Mary recently passed away unexpectedly, and we are dedicating this program in her honor. A distinguished panel will discuss the critical importance of reproductive healthcare in saving women’s lives and ensuring proper safeguards for their well-being. Panelists include:

    • Dr. Brad Carter - Retired OB/GYN, Oak Ridge
    • Senator Richard Briggs - TN Senate District 7
    • Makaela Webb - Planned Parenthood of TN & North Mississippi
    • Dr. Terri Love - Moderator & League of Women Voters Board Member

Topics of discussion include: maternal deserts in rural counties, the impact of restrictive healthcare laws on individuals and communities, urgent versus emergent care for pregnancy complications and the necessity of timely medical intervention, and the decline in OB/GYN enrollment, which further limits access to essential care.

After hearing from physicians about the need for strong reproductive healthcare protections, attendees will learn how to advocate for these life-saving measures and will be invited to take action by calling/writing state legislators at the end of the program.

Refreshments will be served; RSVP requested. RSVP HERE
